Chris and I decided to host a big bash for New Year's Eve (24 hours after getting back into town from Dallas! That was a bit much...). We did a family-friendly party and had 31 adults and kiddos at our house. Everyone brought an appetizer and their beverage of choice, we had a party hat making station where kids (and parents) could decorate party hats with stickers or make crowns out of pipecleaners and sparkly sequins (the moms were really into this!), and we rung in the new year at 8 pm with the Brazilians, complete with a balloon drop and champagne toast for the adults and sparkling cider for the kids. There was dancing, mayhem and plenty of merry making. Just the other day, I found one lone wine glass we missed when cleaning up from the party. Now that is a sign of a GREAT party! I think we'll do this again. It was awesome!
The set-up:
 |
| This was tricky. We took two pieces of string and ran them parallel across our dining room ceiling. Than we took a large plastic tablecloth, cut it in half and loosely sewed it back together leaving the end of the string to hang low as the pull-string. Then we hung the contraption from the string on the ceiling using binder clips. Last, we filled it with balloons. |
Counting down...
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Total mayhem. It was great!
